Born February 24, 1982, in Charleston, West Virginia, Evangelist C.T. Townsend was brought up in a Pastor’s home and raised around the church house and it’s Christian School. His parents, Kenny & Debbie Townsend ran and operated the Christian school, and played a vital role in his upbringing, both spiritually and physically. Bro. Townsend graduated from Fair Haven Christian School in 2000. He then received continuing education at Pensacola Christian College, in Pensacola, Florida, and West Virginia State College right outside of Charleston, WV.
In January of 2003, God called Bro. Townsend to preach the gospel. Months later he enrolled at Victory Baptist College, in North Augusta, South Carolina. During his schooling at Victory, he was granted the privilege, to work for and travel with his pastor, Dr. R. Larry Brown, to his evangelistic meetings and conferences.
In November of 2005, Bro. Townsend married the former Becky Hurte of North Augusta, S.C. Around that time he was given a full-time staff position at Victory. He served as an assistant to the pastor, in the area of youth and music. And in 2007, he earned and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Theology.
In 2009, Bro. Townsend, under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, entered into the field of full-time evangelism. Without just a few meetings scheduled, he and his wife Becky stepped out on faith, and began to do what God called them to do. In no time, God blessed and filled their calendar to capacity with meetings. Since then, God has given him the privilege to preach and sing and share the platform with many of his hero’s.
Bro. Townsend has a heart and a passion to see revival in this generation. In March of 2010, He preached a meeting for Pastor Randy McAlister, at Golden Creek Baptist Church, in Liberty, S.C. The revival went on, and lasted for eight solid weeks. With hundreds in attendance, and 102 recorded souls were saved. God did a work in that town that will not be soon forgotten. In February of 2011, Bro. Townsend was privileged to preach a meeting at Harvest Baptist Tabernacle, where Joe Arthur is the pastor. This meeting was extended there as well and proved to be a powerful move of God!
In 2009, C.T. and Becky competed in a southern gospel competition, and won. They were awarded with a free recording at Daywind Studio in Nashville, TN.
In September of 2010, Bro. Townsend was awarded the “Gospel Luminary Award” at the National Quartet Convention. Direct Out Audio along with the EDA Pro Group presented him the award and with a brand new sound system.
Today, God is continuing to open doors and bless both C.T. Becky, and their new son Tucker, as they travel this nation singing and preaching about Jesus. Please continue to pray for us as we try to reach people for Christ in these last days.
